Refinished Nightstand/Storage

I found this nightstand at a friend's garage sale and just knew a little bit of love would make it good as new again.

I sanded it down...
...and gave it a couple coats of primer.
Then it got a couple coats of glossy white paint and a couple new handles, and it was done. There were some really great knobs in Hobby Lobby, but I didn't take the time to fill in the holes and then drill a single hole for new ones. Just trying to keep it simple....oh, and maybe because I don't own a drill. :-)
I also debated about what color to paint it. The sky's the limit on colors, but since I needed more fabric storage space in my sewing room, I stuck with plain ole white to match the rest of the storage in that room.

Sculpture Park

Last Saturday I went downtown to the Better Homes and Garden garage sale at Meredith. They had cleaned out their storage of items from photo shoots over the years. I arrived about an hour after it started and there wasn't much left. I would have loved to have gotten some of the pieces of furniture they had, but since my car is much too small to transport things like that, I was really just going to browse. I did get several free scrapbooking, quilting, and home decor magazines.

I was across the street from the Pappajohn Sculpture Park so I decided to walk thru. I had never been there, and it was a beautiful morning.

These gorgeous shrub roses lined the sidewalk on both sides of the park.
And my favorite...Back of a Snowman White and Back of a Snowman Black.
After my walk thru the park, I headed to the farmers' market with Lisa. We picked up some fabulous cinnamon rolls and cinnamon raisin bread.

Garage Sale

Yesterday was the annual garage sale at my friend Becky's house.  Having the sale started out as a way to get rid of our stuff, but over the years one of our reasons for continuing is the fun time we have the day of the sale and setting up the night before.  This year we had a perfect day for a sale...compared to last year when we had winter coats on to keep warm.

After the sale, I ended up bringing several boxes of stuff home as seed for next year's sale.  I didn't make a lot of money, but the time spent with friends was the best.  Until next year, Girls!!
