Sculpture Park

Last Saturday I went downtown to the Better Homes and Garden garage sale at Meredith. They had cleaned out their storage of items from photo shoots over the years. I arrived about an hour after it started and there wasn't much left. I would have loved to have gotten some of the pieces of furniture they had, but since my car is much too small to transport things like that, I was really just going to browse. I did get several free scrapbooking, quilting, and home decor magazines.

I was across the street from the Pappajohn Sculpture Park so I decided to walk thru. I had never been there, and it was a beautiful morning.

These gorgeous shrub roses lined the sidewalk on both sides of the park.
And my favorite...Back of a Snowman White and Back of a Snowman Black.
After my walk thru the park, I headed to the farmers' market with Lisa. We picked up some fabulous cinnamon rolls and cinnamon raisin bread.

RAGBRAI 2010

RAGBRAI was last week and one of the towns they went thru was West Bend.  Mike was riding for the first three days so the first order of business was to make a sign and put it in dad's parking lot.

It was a beautiful day to be outside watching everyone ride by.  Not too hot, and it wasn't raining.  The National Guard was set up across the street from mom's with free water.

We walked uptown several times to see what was going on up there too.  It was packed.  Everyone had to walk their bicylces thru the area.

Lots of riders stopped to see the Grotto and also took advantage of the shade for a quick rest.

A long line of riders coming into town.

Mike finally arrived later in the afternoon.

Seeing all the riders and the fun they have makes me think that someday maybe I'll try at least one day of the ride.  Maybe.

4th of July

This year I headed north for the long 4th of July weekend.  Lots of events...street dance, parade, bingo, food, talent show, and auction fundraiser.
Lots of tractors (big and small) in a small rural town's parade.  It was very hot for this year's parade.  The shady spots were hard to find by the time we got uptown.

This is the race car that my dad helps wtih during the summer months.

Lots of horses too!

Yankee Doodle Pops

It's been a long time since I posted.  I better get back at it.  We went to Yankee Doodle Pops down at the capitol.  It was a beautiful night...even though it did get quite cool after the sun went down.  It sure wasn't 80 degrees at 10:00 like it's been the past several days.

I still haven't mastered fireworks on my camera.
