Shopping Trip

After quite a slow down in finding deals, I seem to be having better luck the past month or so. I made a couple of trips to Target. On the second trip I picked up 10 Smart Ones using $8 worth of coupons for a cost of $10. They were running a deal that you got a $5 gift card with the purchase of 7 frozen items.  I picked up 4 bags of frozen veggies to get to 14 frozen items and got two gift cards.  I had more Up&Up coupons so I got the toiletries free.  I paid $12.91 for the items below and got $10 back.

Today I ran to Hy-Vee and got more great deals. They're running a sale of 50% off all Kelloggs.  I picked up some All-Bran for my mom and some granola bars. Their 3-day sale includes milk for $1.98 which is a great deal itself, but then I had a coupon to save $1 on milk with the purchase of one Kelloggs cereal.  Also used a $1 coupon off fruit with the purchse of one Kelloggs cereal.
I spent a little over $10 for everything. Even on a decent sale week this could have cost me close to $20. I wish I ate some Kelloggs cereal to take advantage of this great sale, but I'll stick with Cheerios. I'll have to see if I can find some coupons to get some almost free and then add to my food pantry stash.

Shopping Trip

I've been able to find some great deals this week. Target had several coupons on their website for Up&Up products.  I paid $1 each for the wipes, cleaner and lightbulb. The rest was free....now I've got some great things for the food pantry. Today Hy-Vee had a one-day sale. Everything was on sale except the eggs and bananas. I hated to pay $1.59 for the eggs, but I needed them so I could bake treats for work tomorrow. I had coupons for the soup so I paid a whopping 19 cents a can!! The oj was a great stockup price at 99 cents. Good thing it has a long expiration date.

Shopping Trip

I had a good shopping trip to Target today.  I found a clock on clearance for my basement, lightbulbs, and lotion.  I had a Target coupon and a manufacturer coupon for both the lightbulbs and the lotion so my entire purchase was $2.17.  The clock was $1.98 so the other stuff was free!!
I haven't found a lot of really good deals lately so was glad I had made a Target run.

Shopping Trip

Here are a few more good deals I've gotten in the past few days at Walgreens and Target.  I spent $8.30 for all of it.  The granola bars alone were $3.50 and weren't a great deal, but I keep them at my desk for a morning snack and I was out.  I did get the Pampers wipes free since they were on price cut at Target.

Shopping Trip

I haven't had much luck with finding good deals lately, but a few came up today.

Staples had reams of paper and photo paper for $1 after rebate so I picked up two reams and one photo paper.  Initial total cost was $22.97.

At Walgreens I picked up the Nivea body wash for $5.99.  I had a $3 coupon and then received a $6 RR.  I then used that RR on compost bags that are priced at $7.75.  I almost always use my RR's on lawn bags as they are required for my town and never go on sale.

Jicama

Several weeks ago the cafe at work was having a catering fare so we could sample the new items on their menu.  Someone was talking about the jicama that was in one of the salads.  I had never even heard of it, but have now purchased one a couple of times.  HyVee has them on sale this week.
This one is about 4 inches but they had them about double the size I picked up.  I peeled it like a potato and then cut into slices.  The texture is kind of like a radish or a kohlrabi but the flavor is sweeter.  They don't lose their crispness when stored in the frig for several days either.

Shopping Trip

Walmart is my least favorite store to shop in, but I broke down today as I needed lunches to take to work when there are no leftovers.  I had been waiting for several weeks for HyVee or Fareway to put SmartOnes on sale but no such luck.  So off to Walmart I went to use up my coupons that expire at the end of the month.
The ice cream was a splurge (but at least it was on sale).  I have a cold and nothings soothes my throat like ice cream.  That's about the only time I ever buy it.  It wasn't the cheapest shopping trip I've ever made for the small number of items I got, but I did have $11.50 worth of coupons that made the trip more bearable.  After that I stopped by HyVee to get the $0.97 strawberries. Hmm...what a great topping for my strawberry ice cream.

Ziploc rebate

So not only did I get a great deal on the Ziplocs I bought, I found a $5 rebate for them.  You can send in up to three rebates per household.  When I do my shopping tomorrow, I'm going to see if they're still on temporary price decline and pick up some more.  Even without coupons, it's a great deal.  Freezer bags were included and they'll come in handy for freezing rhubarb this spring/summer.

Shopping Trip

I got all of this at Hy-Vee for $23.13 (27.03 before coupons).  It's not as good a deal as some I see on other blogs, but I did find a couple of really great finds that I just had to share.

Wheat Thins were on sale for $1.88 (regular $3.49) and I had a coupon for $1.  Duracell 8-pack batteries were on sale for $3.99 and I had a coupon for $1.  The packs actually had 10 in them for the price of 8...even better.

I wasn't planning on walking down the paper aisle, but it was the quickest way back to the milk. For some reason my eye happened to catch on Ziploc bags on temporary price decline for $0.89 (regular $2.39). Good thing I had my coupon binder with me because I had $1.40 worth of coupons.  The best part was that I got a $2 catalina off my next purchase because of the Ziplocs making them free plus overage.
